NEWS AND UPDATES

If this is your first time here, go to the main index page to find your way around, or use the links on your left.

April 27, 2006: It's been a while since I've actively maintained this site, but it's by far the most frequently-visited site in the deslea.com family, so it isn't going anywhere! I've done some housekeeping, updated Mimi's filmography, and fixed the image galleries and video clips, which went down without notice a while back. (Allow a day or two as they're quite large and are still being uploaded to their new server).

January 5, 2004: Mimi will guest star in the 25/1/04 episode of ABC's Hope And Faith. The episode, titled "Madam President", will see Mimi opposite Faith Ford and Kelly Ripa as the flirty wife of Hope's (Ripa) opponent in local politics. Thanks to Alfornos for the heads-up!

December 15, 2003: Just a small update! I have three nice new pictures in the Galleries (under Magazines - General Publicity), including a gorgeous signed, rare outtake from a 1990s photo shoot.

On the recent news front, Mimi appeared last month on NBC's Las Vegas in the episode "Luck Be A Lady," playing an ex-CIA operative turned security chief. Thanks, Emily! She will also appear on January 6 on Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown against Carrie Fisher and others. Thanks to Alfornos for the heads-up. Mimi also had surgery recently - she was one of the first to receive the innovative LASIK surgery for nearsightedness, which overcomes certain risks to night vision involved with more established laser surgery techniques. She is said to be delighted with the result. Thanks again to Alfornos.

October 4, 2003: I've had server issues and other projects preventing me from updating for a while, but I've been faithfully collecting content behind the scenes, just the same. We have hundreds of new images in the galleries, and many of the existing galleries have been moved for faster load times. Thanks to Steph for making this possible.

In addition, we have lots of news! Mimi has recently finished filming The Door In The Floor with Kim Basinger and Jeff Bridges, an adaptation of John Irving's book A Widow For One Year. She appeared in Dawson's Creek in the episode "Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road," as well as appearances on Craig Kilborn (10 June 2003) and Good Day, L.A. (11 June 2003). She's appeared in Dumb And Dumberer, Cave In, and A Promise Kept. As well, she's producing a WWII drama called W.A.S.P.S. starring Cameron Diaz. It's expected that Mimi will also appear in the film as Jackie Cochran, one of the earliest American female fighter pilots, and partner Chris Ciaffa is expected to executive produce. "This is a little-known aspect of American history," Mimi told Variety last month. "It was started by Jackie Cochran, who got this program off the ground to give women the chance to handle Stateside duties. They did everything but combat, and this story is about the first group of 28. Jackie knew that if this group failed, the controversial program would be halted, and so she made sure to recruit the top female pilots in the country."

March 9, 2003: Sorry for the long delay in updating, but I have heaps of new content today in the galleries. There are 60 new DVD captures from Seven Girlfriends, and over 500 DVD captures from Hider In The House.

October 4, 2002: Mimi and partner Chris Ciaffa appeared at the 2nd Annual Jewish Image Awards in Beverly Hills on September 24. The awards recognise outstanding presentations of the Jewish experience and portrayals of Jewish characters through film and television. See the photos in 2002 Events. Still in the galleries, I've added a magazine gallery with scans from magazine writeups. It is, of course, incomplete, but a few articles are represented.

September 7, 2002:: Mimi and partner Chris are producing a syndicated show, "Two Minute Mysteries", in which contestants try to solve a mystery after being presented with a video involving a variety of clues. The production has been picked up by Pariah Television and Buena Vista TV, and is in production now. Congratulations, Mimi and Chris! Reported by The Hollywood Reporter on September 3.

In terms of updates, I have now sorted and catalogued all social event images since the beginning of this year, and hope to add other years soon. I have also added DVD caps from Someone To Watch Over Me. Both in the Galleries. I've done a little behind-the-scenes troubleshooting, as well. Many thanks to the people who wrote while I was in hospital this week, too.

August 18, 2002: Bumper update! I've revamped the site, moved it to new servers, added articles and downloads, heaps of new images and DVD captures, added the fanlisting...you name it, we've fixed it. Thanks to our old host, Rajiv at efanguide.com, and Gertie at Web-Glitter for taking us in now.

August 15, 2002: Nearly two years ago, Mimi produced and appeared in Charms For The Easy Life. Variety and Yahoo report that the movie will finally air this weekend on Showtime in the US. See your local listings for details. Thanks, Alfornos!

August 2, 2002: I've added screen grabs from the Seven Girlfriends trailer to the galleries (pretty average captures I'm afraid) and also the trailer itself to downloads.

Please note that due to ongoing site changes, some links from here backwards may be out of date.

July 26, 2002: Mimi appeared at the premiere of the new Austin Powers movie, Goldmember, and was dressed in sixties garb (at least, I hope that's what it was meant to be). There's a picture here. I've also added a few nice new shots I found while trawling around the web. Also, I have a new fanlisting for Mimi's X Files character Diana and love interest Fox Mulder here.

July 15, 2002: Mimi was a guest at a press tour for the National Cable And Telecommunications Association last week. Pretty picture here.

July 7, 2002: I've put up ten screen captures of Mimi's cameo in Common Ground in the galleries. They're from VHS and pretty average quality, but may be of interest nonetheless.

June 16, 2002: Mimi took Lucy and two of her friends to the premiere of Lilo And Stitch at the El Capitan theatre today. There's a cute photo here. She also appeared minus children at an AFI tribute to Tom Hanks on June 12. More photos in the galleries.

June 8, 2002: I've added a transcript of Mimi's promo spot with Chris Carter on the X Files Season 5 DVDs in articles, and thanks to Marie-Eve, I've got the video for download in downloads.

May 23, 2002: I've added some nice grabs of Mimi from the Behind The Scenes extras of the X Files Season 5 DVDs, courtesy of the lovely Gertiebeth.

May 13, 2002: I've just received a heap of Mimi Rogers clippings, with some gorgeous photos and a few nice articles. There's a nice 2001 US Weekly interview, an EW retrospective on her marriage to Tom Cruise, a short 1993 EW Cool People extract, and a celebrity wardrobe fluff piece. Those are all in articles and there are some lovely scans in the galleries.

May 10, 2002: Mimi was named by TV Week (Canada) as one of their favourite X Files guest stars through the show's nine-year run. The transcript is available in articles and appears courtesy of Road Runners.

May 6, 2002: Mimi Rogers and daughter Lucy Ciaffa attended the Step Up Womens' Network pre-Mothers' Day brunch at Saks Fifth Avenue, Beverly Hills CA yesterday (May 5). Some pictures here, including a cute one of them goofing off with a clown.

May 2, 2002: Among the recent additions to the X Files Official Site is a video clip of Mimi talking about her experience of the show. Since some people will have trouble with the video (it's in Quicktime format), I have put up a transcript in articles. It's also available for download in the Downloads pages.

April 24, 2002: Variety and Canoe have reported that 2000's acclaimed film Ginger Snaps, with Mimi Rogers, will return for a sequel. No word yet on whether Mimi will reprise her role. Get the goss here. Mimi also recently attended a function at FAO Schwartz in LA celebrating the Entertainment Industry Foundation's new National Arts Education Initiative for children.

April 13, 2002: Mimi Rogers attended the premiere of My Big Fat Greek Wedding at the ArcLight Theatre in Hollywood today. See the photos here.

April 10, 2002: Variety reports that ABC will produce a one-hour pilot episode of a series called The Corsairs. It's about media moguls and their impact on society. The venture will feature Mimi Rogers and Martin Landau, among other well-known figures.

April 2, 2002: 63 new captures added in Galleries, all from the Biogenesis trilogy, The X Files. I have captured Lost In Space and will put up captures sometime this week. I've also made this news page the first page to load rather than the index due to the frequency of updates.

March 27, 2002: On March 24, Mimi attended the Night Of 100 Stars Oscar viewing party at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The event was for the benefit of the Film Foundation and was also attended by Charlene Tilton, Alan Thicke, Anna Nicole Smith and Caroline Rhea. See a gorgeous photo here.

March 26, 2002: On March 13, 2002, Mimi attended the Showtime Network Annual Programming Preview Luncheon in New York (pictures here and here). For people interested in such things, I'm told the jacket was Chanel and the handbag was Louis Vutton.

March 24, 2002: Mimi and partner Chris Ciaffa's production Harlan County War has won a certificate of merit (essentially an honourable mention) from the Catholic communications body UNDA-USA in the 2001 Gabriel Awards. The Gabriels recognise "works of excellence in broadcasting - programs, features, spots and stations - which serve viewers and listeners through the positive, creative treatment of concerns to humankind". The category winner was Nuremburg. The award will be presented in October 2002 at the Sheraton in Universal City, CA. Presumably, the award will be presented to a representative of Mimi's production company Millbrook Farms, but no word on whether it will be Mimi herself.

March 23, 2002: Mimi and partner Chris Ciaffa will produce an adaptation of Honore De Balzac's classic French novel "Old Goriot" for Artists' Production Group and Studio Canal later this year. Angela Shelton will write the script. EZ-Entertainment reports that Mimi and her production house have been working on this project for five years prior to pitching it.

March 17, 2002: Site launch! Design and base content. I'm coming into this as someone who came to Mimi's work through The X Files, and I'm really excited about it. A lot of Philes overlook the quality of Mimi's work because of the character she played, and I can't wait to show the eXegesis regulars a new perspective! Meanwhile, I'm attaching some older news items below.

February 18, 2002: Mimi attends an Earth Communications Office conference in Salt Lake City this week. She is a member of the board. The ECO is an environmental action group with an emphasis on contributions from the entertainment industry, and according to Variety, 82% of its income goes directly into charitable works, making it a good performer in terms of keeping administrative costs low. For more information, see Yahoo News.

February 1, 2002: Variety reported last year that Mimi's new telemovie "Charms For The Easy Life" will air on Showtime early this year. No idea when it will be, but watch your listings! It's produced by Mimi and partner Chris Ciaffa and is based on a novel by Kaye Gibbons.
